There will be no regular meeting May 6th as we prepare for our big event, Murder at the Book Signing.
We hope you'll join us May 20th at the Winery at Marjim Manor for our Sisters in Crime Birthday Celebration. It's no joke, we'll be meeting at our usual Rochester location at our usual time: 1pm at the Legacy.
Member Margo Sue Bittner, owner of the Winery at Marjim Manor, will give a presentation on talking with the press. Our meeting will be at our regular 1pm time at our Rochester location, the Legacy at the Parklands.
We'll be at our regular Rochester location at 1pm Saturday February 4th. In preparation for our May event we'll be looking at role playing mystery games. We may even play one to see what's involved. I hope you'll join us for some fun...and murder!
Immediately afterward the Event Planning Committee will meet to go over more details for our May 20th event. Join us on January 7th for our first meeting of 2017. Lorna will speak to us about the more sinister side of Western New York History, as she detailed in her book Wicked Niagara, and others. She's an experienced speaker and a professional storyteller. You don't want to miss this one! As a storyteller, Lorna has delighted audiences in schools, libraries, festivals and conferences throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland with traditional and original stories since 1985. Lorna specializes in original tales, adaptation of classic fairy tales often with music, Celtic, historical and healing story. Her historical presentations include Colonial America, Medieval, American Civil war, and the Dust Bowl. Lorna sang Depression era songs with the Blue Eagle String Band. She is the author of Breadline Blue, Wicked Niagara: the Sinister Side of the Niagara Frontier; Legends, Lore and Secrets of Western New York; Medieval Tales That Kids Can Read and Tell; “One Lace Glove”; August House Book of Scary Stories; “The Bleeding Heart”; The Healing Heart Community. Lorna is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and The National Storytelling Network. Lorna is a recipient of the Oracle Award from the National Storytelling Network, the Hopevale Incorporated Volunteer of the Year Award, Storytelling World Award, and was nominated as a Univera, United Way Community Hero. Living a life of adventure with her best friend and husband Thomas, and their three cats, Kashka Queen of Cats, Dottie, and Dasha, next in line to the throne. Join us at the Legacy at the Parklands in Chili at 1pm where Murder on Ice member Linda Silvestri will give a presentation about her recent experience at the Writer's Police Academy.
We're traveling to Niagara County for our September meeting. We'll be at The Winery at Marjim Manor located at 7171 East Lake Road (Route 18) Appleton, NY 14008 at our usual time of 1pm. Our speaker will be Lawrence M. Eggert, retired Chief of Police of Lockport, NY. Lawrence is currently an Adjunct Professor with both Buffalo State College and Erie Community College instructing on such topics as Police Administration/Leadership. deviant behavior, various legal courses, and corrections. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, he has over 30 years of experience in police training.
